Ali Sgrattage

I created this painting through sgraffito and grattage, scraping through a wet top layer with a sharp tool to expose the colors and canvas beneath. The marks and revealed layers shaped the composition.

Within those marks, I saw an alligator and a figure. That discovery became the name: “Ali” from alligator, and “Sgrattage” from the two techniques brought together. Look closer and let your own interpretations emerge.
